Attention: Sherlock Holmes fans watch out! Sir Conan Doyle had the grand finale of his books played here in Meiringen. Sherlock Holmes threw himself here in a fight with his adversary Dr. Moriatti together in the Reichenbacher waterfall and heroically killed himself and his greatest adversary. For the English fan base this was apparently a very exotic place for this ending to the Sherlock Holmes story. There is still a Sherlock Holmes Museum in Meiringen. Incidentally, many of the hotels in Meiringen and the surrounding area were built in the "Victorian" style. This is also the case with our Hotel Bellevue in Hohfluh Hasliberg. This was due to the willingness of the English to travel as tourists on the mainland at the time.
By car you can reach the base station of the cable car shortly after Meiringen at the crossroads, where you turn left to the Aare gorge and right to the cable car. Travel length from Hotel Bellevue Hohfluh Hasliberg over the Brünig Pass and Meiringen 13.9 km easy. There are several parking areas. However, these are mostly occupied on Sundays and public holidays.
From the mountain station you walk a few meters to the Reichenbach waterfall.
